How the best managers tap into their team’s potential

3 ways to tap into your team’s potential:

  1. Creating a compelling vision is important, but it isn’t enough on it’s own to drive engagement. Your team has to feel connected to both the impact they are working toward and their personal ability to contribute in a meaningful way. If you don’t have a foundation of trust on your team, you are dead in the water. Building a container for growth and experimentation is how the best leaders are able to cultivate teams that are fully engaged and contributing at the highest levels.

  2. Identify obstacles to growth and deal with them swiftly. Empowering leaders know how to turn difficult conversations into learning conversations. They are able to assess interventions that are needed to get the team back on track, and aren’t afraid to take action when it is needed.

  3. Listening deeply and getting out of your own way. The best leaders aren’t the ones with all the answers. They are the ones who are curious, willing to be wrong, and listening deeply to both the needs of clients and employees. Creative solutions emerge when we leverage the wisdom in the room and stay open to new ways of seeing things.
