Your productivity system won't actually solve for overwhelm...

Part 1/4 in a video reflection after a recent team workshop.

In this video, I share why your productivity system isn’t going to solve the overwhelm you feel as you look at your to-do list.

Overwhelm happens because of how you are thinking about what is in front of you.

It shows up in thoughts like:
🫣 “I have to do all the things…”
😮‍💨 “It’s on me to fix this.”
😢 “No one else is going to do it if I don’t make it happen.”
😬 “I don’t want to let anyone down.”
🤔 “It would be better if we’d just do/add ___.”

I love helping clients take a more objective look at their list and productivity systems. The work we do together helps them reconnect to their goals and clarify why they made certain decisions.

When they say yes to projects, they are also looking at the things they are saying no to - so they have the capacity and space to be successful at what they do take on. And we make sure to schedule those most important tasks first - including time to take care of yourself, have fun, + blow off steam.

Your system isn’t going to deal with the overwhelm - being able to tune into your thoughts about your list and learning how to manage your mind when your habitual patterns show up is E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. 👏

What is the simplest way to stay organized and get more done? ⬅️ The trick is doing this in a way that is gentle - not using your system as another excuse to beat ourself up or a garbage dump of never-ending tasks you once intended to do. 🗑️

With many of my clients, the root cause of overwhelm is people-pleasing or perfectionism.(Which is why weekly coaching is such a great way to make your thinking visible + have someone reflect back to you things that are getting in your way.)
