My current weekly productivity system

Part 2/4 in a series of video reflections after a team workshop. This video offers a peek at my current productivity system and what is working to help me get a ton of work done while enjoying my summer.

🔥 TIP #1: Bring all tasks into one inbox where you can get a sense of all the things on your plate.

There are so many different places where a task could be generated - email, notes, meetings, a physical planner or journal, post-its, etc.

I am using Notion for anything I can’t accomplish in a couple of minutes - I have ways to quickly capture tasks from my phone, computer, and iPad.

🔥 TIP #2: Get crystal clear on the 1-2 priorities for the week

Each week I spend 15-30 min getting clear on what is the most important thing I need to do. If these were the only things I did this week, I know I’d be making progress on the things that REALLY matter to me.

(Pro tip: When I create my quarterly goals, I identify the key tasks that will help me make progress on my goals and assign them to weeks on my calendar.)

🔥 TIP #3: Use time blocking to carve out time to focus on key activities.

I block off time early in the week to get those things done first. If it takes longer than I think it will, I can find another hour later in the week to get it done.

When you do these things each week, what will happen is you will have to say no to things and either you or other people are going to have thoughts about that. So the real trick to time management is managing your mind around the things you don’t get to, have to say no to, and making decisions around what is important to you and why.

What feeling are you willing to feel in order to make your goals happen?

Contact me if you want to talk about how I might be able to support you in creating a system that works for you. Mention ‘notion template’ and I’ll get you the URL for the one I’m using.
