I came home from vacation and surprised myself by what I chose to do first.

This unit study uses The Big History Project and combines it with biology lessons from other textbooks.  It was a fun way to go deep, while following our intuition.

I recently learned that there are natural stages of growth for home educators.  I feel like we are just starting to enter the stage of trusting ourselves.

One of my favorite things we did this year in school was visit the Seeing Nature exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum.  

This was our first year homeschooling full-time, where we had autonomy over our schedule and the curriculum.  We used the curriculum reviewed here for 4th and 5th grade.

In the summer of 2014 we made the decision to pull our kids from the private school they were attending.  It was obvious that the little rigorous school on a farm was no longer the right fit for our family.
